We find it before it finds you
Most electrical failures give you warnings first: the light that flickers when the AC starts, the outlet that's a little warm, the breaker you have to reset once a month. Those warnings are the cheap version of the problem. The expensive version is the fire.
We're IBEW-trained troubleshooters — fault-finding is the craft, not a guess-and-replace game. We trace circuits, test under load, and isolate the fault to the exact device, splice, or run that's failing. You get the real answer, not a shrug and a big invoice.
The calls we get every week
- Flickering or dimming lights — usually a loose neutral or an overloaded circuit. Sometimes the first sign of a failing panel.
- Dead outlets — often a tripped GFCI upstream, a failed backstab connection, or storm damage to an exterior run.
- Breakers that won't stay on — the circuit is overloaded, shorted, or the breaker itself is worn out.
- Warm switch plates or outlets — heat means resistance, resistance means a failing connection. Don't ignore this one.
- Buzzing from the panel — breakers shouldn't make noise. Ever.
- Partial power loss — half the house dead usually means a lost leg from the utility or a failed main breaker.
How diagnosis works
We start at the panel and work outward: verify voltage coming in, check each breaker under load, then walk the failing circuit device by device. Thermal checks find hot connections your eyes can't see. Every step gets explained before we do it — you'll know what we found, why it failed, and what the fix costs before we pick up a tool.
Salt air, storm surge, and 40-year-old aluminum branch wiring — Gulf Coast homes have failure modes inland electricians never see. We've seen them all.
Repair vs replace: the honest answer
Sometimes the right fix is a $15 device and twenty minutes. Sometimes the panel is telling you it's done and a replacement is cheaper than chasing failures for the next two years. We'll show you both numbers and let you decide — no pressure, no scare tactics.
